OFFICE Manager
Lauren Nelson
Lauren Nelson, known to many as “Lanel,” has been a part of Harrah Church since 2020 and joined the staff team in 2023 as Office Manager. She stepped into this role after being recognized by the Elders following her contribution and leadership during a youth parent meeting, where her heart for people and ministry was clearly evident.
Lauren’s journey has been marked by deep faith, surrender, and transformation. Following a season of profound grief caused by the loss of her daughter, Ellie who was 11 months old. She experienced the steady faithfulness and comfort of the Lord in a personal and life-shaping way. Through the support of community—beginning with an invitation from her neighbor, Sabrina Kays—Lauren joined a discipleship group where she began to experience renewed peace and a deeper walk with Christ.
Today, Lauren continues to serve the church with diligence, compassion, and a steady presence behind the scenes, helping ensure the day-to-day life of the church runs smoothly and effectively.
In 2025, Lauren was blessed with her son, Matthew, who has become a joyful and meaningful part of her life. She continues to navigate motherhood while serving in ministry, holding both roles with grace and gratitude.
Lauren is married to Ryan Nelson, one of the leaders in Stu-D Ministries, and together they serve the church community with a shared heart for discipleship and the next generation.
RYAN NELSON
Ryan Nelson serves as Co-Leader of Stu-D (Student Disciples Ministry) at Harrah Church, where he invests in the next generation with a heart for discipleship, growth, and spiritual maturity.
Ryan’s journey with the Lord has been shaped through both calling and deep personal loss. Following the passing of his daughter, he entered a season of grief where he initially sought to cope in unhealthy ways, including turning to alcohol during that painful time. In the midst of that struggle, God met him with grace and redirection.
Through intentional discipleship and accountability with Seth Kays, Ryan began to shift his response from coping to Christ—learning to bring his pain, questions, and healing into the presence of Jesus rather than carrying them alone. That process became a turning point in his faith and walk with God.
Today, Ryan serves faithfully in Stu-D, helping students encounter Christ in real and transformative ways. His testimony reflects God’s ability to redeem broken seasons and build a life anchored in grace, healing, and purpose.
Ryan is married to Lauren (Lanel) Nelson, and together they serve the Harrah Church family with a shared passion for discipleship, ministry, and the next generation.
